Dr. Boniface Dulani, Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Malawi and Director of Surveys for Afrobarometer, presents his research drawing from Afrobarometer data to track changes in attitudes towards homosexuality in Africa over the period 2014-2023. His research highlights countries that have recorded notable attitudinal changes over this time period and provides some preliminary explanations for those changes. In particular, his research assesses if legalization of homosexuality results in shifts in public attitudes towards same-sex relationships or if public opinion contributes to legislative changes in selected African countries.
